Under the mango tree

Mango Wood comes from the fruit bearing mango tree (Mangifera indica). It's a tree that grows in tropical climates and can be found abundantly in Africa, Asia, India, Mexico, Brazil and the West Indies. The tree can even grow up to 100ft tall. The fruit, the aptly-named mango, is very succulent and sweet.

The wood is hardwood in nature and highly durable. The mango tree is only felled once it has stopped bearing fruits. The wood is very sustainable as new trees are planted to replace the felled ones. Thus it is not an endangered tree.

Mango wood has a finesse to it and comes in various hues and shades of brown, yellow and green too. It has a grain which can be left natural or treated with a natural polish to give it a shiny, smooth surface. The natural distressed look is what I prefer.

Quality mango wood furniture would have been seasoned and dried in a kiln to make it last for a long time.

Have you ever thought of how Mango Wood can beautify your home? A lot of people are not familiar with this type of wood as the tree does not grow naturally in the UK. So let me introduce you to a few mango wood inspired furniture and accessories.

Mango Wood furniture is very inspiring and a lot can be done with it within interior design. A design theme using this type of wood will introduce a tropical African or Asian feel within a space.
