So it's happened! Again. Just before the curtains closed on the year 2016, Detola and Geek won another prestigious award. Lost for words to say the least.

The Glass Effect

I have always been fascinated with glass and how is applied in design of products, interiors, architecture. Glass is smooth. Glass is transparent. Glass is sleek. Glass is classy. I can go on and on about why I think glass is a good touch to your interiors.

Timeless Furniture ~ The Bathroom Vanity

Gosh I haven't done one of these in like  ..... ages. 

I think this baby-pink beauty is a winner. It's in the style of new Baroque    It's a revival of the old style and the pink colour puts a spin on it. I absolutely love it. The edges of the mirror have  been delicately cut out. 

The handles look like a big buckle. Too cute

I've always had a thing for stage & production design having worked for a film and television production company in another life. I'm always fascinated with the way film sets are staged and the final design. They always tell a story. 

This one below is from the movie 'Somethings Gotta Give'. The wicker chairs are wicked! and black. Very clean and smooth lines accentuate this set design as well as the neutral colours used.

Next one up is from the 'Adjustment Bureau' movie. The ceiling lampshade

Oversized Statements: Lighting Design

I was in Lille last year (and this year too) and visited one of it's popular museums. The Palais des Beaux de Arts de Lille (the Museum of Fine Arts of Lille). And just by the coat/bag cloakroom in front of the stairs was this giant colourful light

Oh Jibber jabber ~ it's a Jib door !!!

Let's get straight to the point. So what exactly is a 'Jib' door ? A jib door is a door that is disguised or camouflaged and blended in with the interior of a room. It is not easy to spot at first glance as it is flushed with the wall.

Every one has a different take on colours as there are so many shades, hues and varieties out there. Some people like bright & warm colours while others may sway towards more toned-down pastel and cool colours. The range and permutations are endless. 


Without colour you really don't have anything. We really can't live without it. Colours seem to be the one constant that you find virtually everywhere ~ interior design, fashion, product design, architecture, nature, food etc

The brand new spanking UK Legoland Hotel

Have you heard about the new Legoland Hotel, Windsor, UK which opened just last month. I so can't wait and be a kid again for a short-weekend break. The last time I visited with my son was probably about 6 years or so ago. If not longer.

Mountain Hideaway - Cedar clad House

Thinking of a secluded getaway to hide this summer. This is a very eco-friendly sustainable house in the middle of Cougar Mountains forest. It's cedar cladded and the interior is very pleasing on the eyes.

Breakfast with Tiffany: Who would you like to breakfast with?

Oh my, oh my. I do really love Tiffany. No exaggeration. At all.

I think the images all speak for themselves ....... This hideout is in Upper fifth Avenue. It is The St. Regis New York's Tiffany Suite. All I can say is WOW!!!! The Tiffany Blue colour injections make this suite utterly to-die-for.

Finishing touches: Door Knobs

There is always that final piece of detail that usually either gets overlooked or not even noticed at all. Doorknobs are now coming out of the woodwork. They can be glass, metal, wooden, plastic, ceramic, brass. So many finishes are available now.


Designs are very innovating and really pushing the envelope. And It's all in the small details.


These ones below are made out of glass by Out of the Blue Design Studio. They look fab!!!!

Living on top of the world!!!

It's all about penthouse living in today's blog post. I've always had a thing for penthouses and have visions of myself living in one some day!!!!!I can hear the snigger - yeah right, keep on dreaming. LOL


This Penthouse is Mercedes Perez de Castro's in Milan. Look at that fabulous and timeless Eames Lounge Chair in white leather. Ottoman and all.That's the tip of the iceberg for me. This penthouse

This next one is the Presidential Suite, Intercontinental, Hong Kong. Just look at that outdoor pool - heaven right here on earth!!!!!

This is the outside area of the Penthouse Suite, Cavalieri Hilton, Rome. See the perfect blue sky at night. Looks so peaceful. Also there's a raised whirlpool tub - what more can you ask for!

This one is the Imperial Suite, Palazzo Versace, Gold Coast, Australia. All I can say at the moment is WOW!!!! The interior design here is Borgia-beating. Elegantly executed.

Oh my, oh my, oh my!!! Now this is what am talking about. This is the Penthouse Suite, Raleigh Hotel, Miami beach. Look at the stunning peach-coloured floor-to-ceiling curtains and contemporary sofa. What more could you ask for?
