Detola and Geek lampshades are a lighting fantastic on Folksy

Yes I know this colour popping handmade lampshade of mine is quite bright & of the non-African print in naturel but it's warm. And I know it isn't Summer but it will inject colour into any room which needs some.

Not 1 but 3 of my "Detola and Geek" lamp shades got featured on Folksy's blog. If you haven't heard of them (mouth wide open), then you'd  better get on down there.

Folksy is an online marketplace that sells "Modern British Craft" on behalf of UK-based handmade designers and makers.

"A place to buy handmade gifts and crafts supplies and for British designers and  makers to sell their work" ~ Folksy

My candy striped retro lampshade made page 1. Yay!!!  You just need to scroll down ( to nearly the end) and 'oops there it is'

If you go onto page 2, there are 2 more of mine - African wax print inspired . Double Yay!!!

Day 1 - Art Chain Challenge on Facebook

I forgot to share this amazing challenge that snowballed on Facebbok recently. I am still trying to track down the originator as it would be great to hear how they were inspired to start this

Culled from my Detola and Geek's Facebook page .....

Has anyone heard of Art Chain? I hadn't until I got nominated by my wonderful friend Susie, of Sewsannah who makes fab colourful purses!

So it goes a little something like this - I have to share a different handmade product I have made per day for 5 days and nominate 5 other designer/maker/crafters on each day.

Day 1 of the Art Chain Challenge:

My maiden share is the first batch of vibrant ‪African print lampshades I made. Didn't have a clue about the best way to photograph them. So I just tried to show off the shapes, colours & designs the best way I could (Also used to be known as Dezine Konnections Interior design wink emoticon)
I now nominate Lara of Allabouteveshop to share for 5 days 1 creation per day & nominate a different person each time. Off you go girl ......

Back to School Sale: 50% off all Handmade Home Decor Products

I am ever so sorry for being MIA. I know so unexpected without any warning. I had taken a bit of an unplanned break during the summer holidays. A breather to unplug & down tools, relax and reflect too. But saying that, I did do 2 fully-fledged market days last month in London @Camden Lock Market. Never ever done an outdoor market before so that was a whole new world to me. And I enjoyed every part of it. I promise to do another post on that, so I won't say too much now!

Cool Spring 2013 interior looks

So it's the first day of Spring 2013 and I look out of my 'home office / living' window and it is so gloomy outside. So it also kinda makes the interiors look dark & dull a times. So why not brighten up your home with some touches of Spring accents. Not gonna do much writing on this one. I just want you all to experience the Spring mood! :-)

The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month

Interior DesignTrend for 2013 ~ African Print influences

Yes African Prints have exploded all over the world. Also known as Ankara in Nigeria, it's been introduced more and more into interior design and now found it's own firm footing.

This bedroom below reeks of African heritage. From the bedspread, pillows, colour of the bed frame to the painted walls, plates and all. Everything is so well coordinated without loosing the functionality of the room.

I will most definitely be blogging more on this as I'm a British-Nigerian and I think Ankara, the African print fabric has taken over the world.

In terms of creating eye-catching focal points in any space, I make fabric lampshades using the Ankara material by hand. The designs and colour combinations are endless.

Here are some below for your viewing pleasure ;-)

Please visit my Ankara Lampshades shop on Etsy. I also share images on my page on. You can also reach me via:

Introducing 'Ankara Lampshades' by Dezine Konnections Interior Design

Am sure you all have been wondering why I have been so so quiet. Well I have been getting my 'game on' in the world of handmade design. Still falling with the realm of interior design. The love of handmade pieces is currently very trendy and I don't see it tapering off. At all.

Have you ever wanted something different within your home to give it that

DKID W-I-P ........ It won't be too long now

Sorry all my avid readers and faithful followers of my blog, I know I have been unusually silent for a while. But I have

Something is, most definitely, brewing and it's really gonna be .................... Well I think I'll wait for you to be the judge of that. Your honest opinion really matters a lot to me. And am not just saying that!

So, work, is still, in progress. Yes I have the briefs of my new project bursting at it's seems. Literally.

But I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel. All I can say at this moment is that it involves fabric (initially) and here's a sneak pic below. I don't want to give it all away, not just yet!

Does anyone know what type of material is in the images above? Will let you know when I reveal what has been keeping me so so busy.

I know it doesn't seem like much but please 'watch this space' and you'll soon find out. The future's looking good though!
