Detola & Geek's Virtual Pop Up Shops

The new normal & next best thing to selling-in-person is virtual craft markets & fairs. This whole global lock down due to COVID-19 has affected we small independent makers.

As a member of Crafty fox market's Shopping With Soul makers community, I will be taking part in their first Online market. Also coincidentally I will also be popping up with Solo Craft Fair too. Virtually I mean.

All you need to do tomorrow (Sat 25th April 2020) from the comfort of your homes:

1) Follow Detola & Geek on Instagram if you aren't already

2) First market starts at 11am with Crafty Fox Market's online market.

Six of my gorgeous Detola & Geek products will be featured via their stories and highlights for 24 hours.

3) Next one is hosted by Solo Craft Fair & is being held between 12noon & 2pm

4) So sit back and browse as well as shop from the comfort of your sofa

If you have any questions about my products tomorrow please feel free to send me a DM/email via my Instagram page.

Just so you know I am open for business online 24/7 and have been taking orders online as well as shipping them out in a timely fashion.

In case you can't make the virtual markets tomorrow you can still visit my website directly to order online or request a custom/bespoke order.

African Inspired Lampshades: Interior styling inspiration

"Collect things you love, that are authentic to you, and your house becomes your story." ~ Erin Flett ⁣ ⁣
Have you seen our latest designs yet. More and more colourful designs

Quite functional: They come in different shapes & sizes (custom orders welcome) and can be used as ceiling pendants or paired up with a lamp base (table & floor).

Adding colour: The colours, vibrancy & patterns will "funkify" any space and be a conversation starter too!

My handcrafted lampshades are my signature & best-selling products. They seem to be gaining quite a reputation, slowly becoming a movement (in my head).

I tend to seek out eye-catching African inspired design prints which may be bold, geometric, retro, tribal, botanical, mid-century modern or even  geeky too!

At the moment I’m obsessed with giving my lampshades alternative linings on the inside like metallic gold or bronze as well as making them transparent too.

I love commissions, special projects & collaborations, especially partnering with interior designers/stylists, property developers, home-stagers, architects etc. I also work with film set & stage designers.

Tag a friend below in the comments who is a colour lover like you 🙌 😉⁣

When Detola & Geek Popped Up in Canary Wharf

One of my goals for 2019 was to host/hold more "Pop Up Shops" in different venues & cities/towns.

This dream came true recently. As early as in the 1st quarter of this year! The Universe surely has my back, believe.

I do like taking "Detola & Geek" on the road. Being flexible and able to work in different settings is amazing to say the least. Just the same when I sell in person at handmade/craft fairs.

That email out of the blue from Standard & Poor Global (S & P Global) London caught me totally unawares. They reached out to my teeny weeny handmade independent business to see if I was interested in having a Pop Up Shop. I couldn't have been happier and of course I said YES.

Here are some images from the in-house event on 27th March 2019.

Also, Detola and Geek donated a portion of it's takings on the day to S & P's nominated Charity - Mind.

Can't wait to be back again, sometime soon :-)

Detola & Geek wins Theo Paphitis's Small Business Sunday award!

Some things are so rare that the chances of it happening is equal to one winning the lottery.

My one woman small handmade business won Theo Paphitis's small business Sunday award on 12th September 2016.

So you could imagine how amazed. elated, gobsmacked & speechless atimes I have been since Monday.

All kind of emotions happening at the same time!

At some point I could barely breathe.

Hard work really pays off. You've got to be in it to win it. I live by this mantra 100%.

You also have to be very passionate about what you do. I so love picking out colourful vibrant African wax print textiles. They are the backbone of my teeny weeny business that I call Detola & Geek.

Thanks again Mr Theo Paphitis, Shopkeeper & ex-Dragons Den judge for propelling my small business into the big world of business & super brands.

Will share my official award winning badge once I've received it.

....... and here it is, as promised

Keep your eye on Detola and Geek as it is certainly going places!
